Jewelry Design

The image above is a rendered image of a customize ring which could be wedding, engagement, anniversary, reunion or general purpose ring. The design of the ring was an action plan for production within the acceptable limits of tolerance. This design was made possible by the ability of rhinoceros cad software which has the capabilities of translating complex curves into 3D solid objects with ease.

Modeling was done in Rhinoceros CAD and rendering was carried out using mental ray rendering engine that can be found in Autodesk 3Dmax package. The final edge sharpness was achieved in adobe creative suit CS3 which is also known as Photoshop. To be a good artist or designer the knowledge of Photoshop is a requirement. There are times when the material combination in the default setting of the modeling package won’t meet requirements of the customer or the intended purpose, and then the knowledge of Photoshop will come handy. The size of the stone was based on industry standard of different sizes of stone. A quick hit on Google search should revealed the different standards
The image above was a side views of the ring obtained from Rhinoceros CAD, after the final cleaning of curves and poly curves ready to be exported to 3Dmax for material and lightening. Close edge analysis of the model was tested for a valid polysurface, else chances are the rapid prototyping process of producing prototype via different stereo lithographers or 3D printers may fail.

The image above was taking directly from Rhinoceros CAD showing the various dimensions of the curves and spacing which could either be casted or fabricated using CNC multiple axis machines.
